Target Dated Funds Offered in Investment Choice Plans
On October 1, 2007 NADA Retirement Administrators, Inc. (NADART) added Target Dated Funds managed by State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) to the Investment Choice funds line-up. These ten SSgA Target Retirement Strategies add a new dimension to NADART’s Investment Choice 401(k) plan.
Target Dated Funds are designed with a particular retirement year in mind. Each participant selects the fund whose target date is most closely associated with the year he or she expects to retire. Each fund is diversified with a mix of stocks and bonds that are allocated based on the expected retirement date. SSgA monitors the fund and reallocates the stocks and bonds mixture as needed over time. They work to maximize the participant’s investment return potential while keeping the risk at an appropriate level for each stage of life.
“These Target Dated Funds take the guesswork out of picking the right funds based on your retirement goals,” said Philip Holland, Vice-President and Plan Administrator for NADART. “Different life stages require a different investment strategy that involves picking the right selection of funds, monitoring their performance and rebalancing those funds. Many of our participants don’t have the time or inclination to do this. The Target Retirement Strategies makes it easy for them to choose a fund based on when they want to retire and then lets the fund managers do the rest of the work for them.”
Descriptions of each Target Dated fund can be found in the Target Dated Funds Sheets (pdf), a supplement to the Investment Choice enrollment booklet. Contact us at nadart@nada.org or (800) 462-3278 for more information.
Changes to Distribution Forms
NADART Distribution Forms have been revised to reflect our new automatic rollover process (pdf) and simplified to provide the required notices (Special Tax Notice Regarding Plan Payments and Direct Rollovers and the NADART Qualified Joint and Survivor Annuity Notice) with Forms N-10, N-35, and N-50 instead of in Form N-15. Form N-15 now serves exclusively as a Direct Rollover Election Form and need not be accessed for other payment options.
IRS Raises Income Limits for Saver`s Credit
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has raised the income limits for the Saver`s Credit (pdf) for 2007 from its current level of $50,000 (for a married couple filing jointly) to $52,000. Those persons filing as head of household had an increase of $1500 to $39,000, while single filers and married persons filing separately saw an increase of $1,000 to $26,000.
Looking to Boost Your Participation Rate? Automatic Enrollment Might Be the Answer
Are your employees saving enough for their retirement? If they’re like many Americans, they aren’t. You may have heard recent news reports about the low savings rate in this country. Despite an increase in the number of workers that are offered 401(k) plans, studies have found that 30% don’t participate. Why such a high rate? Simple inaction is often cited as one of the main causes. NADART began offering automatic enrollment to its plan sponsors in an effort to help its plan sponsors reverse this trend with their own employees. See how we can help you solve this problem.
